| Jen Behagg turned in a pair of impressive outings as she powered Pope John to 51-18
rout of Vernon and a 59-29 victory over Lenape Valley. Behagg was named the sportsinthegardenstate.com Sussex County
Girls Basketball Player of the Week for her efforts that included a game-high 18 points, five assists and five
steals against the Vikings and a dozen points against the Patriots. The victory over Vernon snapped a three-game
losing streak as Ashleigh O'Rourke chipped in with six points and grabbed 10 rebounds. In the win over LVR, Jo
Ellen Fitzgibbons topped the Lions with 14 points while Kaley Guthrie was versatile with six points, eight assists
and seven steals. O'Rourke picked off eight rebounds. |
| Hern's 32 points power Rangers past Chiefs (Wallkill Valley 64 - Hopatcong 47) |
| Stephanie Hern pumped a game-high 32 points through the iron, 11 of which came
at the charity stripe, to spark Wallkill Valley to a 64-47 win over Hopatcong on Friday. The Rangers burst out
to a 14-3 lead by the end of the first quarter and steadily increased their advantage in posting their seventh
"W" of the season. Antoinette Battishi chipped in with 16 points, seven of which were successful free
throws and Cherie Smith tossed 11 points through the twine. The Chiefs were led by Monique Barbell who finished
with 14 points while Krystal Blanos netted a dozen points and Katie Quigley chipped in with nine. |
| Braves net season-high 76 points (Newton 76 - High Point 32) |
| Newton was on target with its shots as the Braves bombed a season-high 76 points
through the twine in defeating High Point by 44 points on Friday. Newton jumped out to an 18-6 lead by the end
of the opening quarter. Kaitlyn Davey, who topped the Braves with 16 points, hit the hoop for eight in the second
quarter as Newton upped its advantage to 40-15 by the halftime break. Liz Sisca chipped in with 10 points, Alexis
Johnson added nine and dished off a game-high eight assists while frosh forward Sheakia Jackson came off the bench
to net seven points and pull down 10 rebounds. Nicole Kelley led the Wildcats with 14 points while Nora Swanson
pitched in with seven. |
| Falcons hold off Vikings (Jefferson 55 - Vernon 53) |
| In a shootout at Vernon on Friday, Jefferson jumped out to a 20-9 lead by the end
of the opening quarter and led 33-16 at halftime. Following the intermission, it was all Vikings as Vernon cut
the deficit to 41-36 entering the final quarter before falling two points short with a fourth quarter rally. Shannon
McCarney topped the Falcons with 15 points, 11 of where came at the foul line while Kristi DeMiceli and Jamie Lukos
added 11 points each. The Vikings were led by Erin Murphy and Gloria Pinck who hit the bucket with 14 points apiece
while Lauren Cimasko finished with a dozen points and Chrissy Licurzi tossed nine into the basket. |
| Jent nets 20 in Spartans rout of Cougars (Sparta 57 - Kittatinny 25) |
| Sparta led all the way in defeating Kittatinny 57-25 on Friday in Hampton. The
Spartans jumped out to an 18-6 lead after eight minutes and went on a 20-6 run following intermission to ice the
decision. Meghan Jent was top gun for the Spartans, pumping 21 through the iron including 10 in the third quarter
outburst. Ali Cummings netted a team-high 10 points for the Cougars. Diana Dilworth and Brittany Keil chipped in
with nine points apeice. |

| Kori Holcomb was on target as she tossed a game-high 20 points through the twine
to spark Sussex Tech to a 45-30 win over Morristown-Beard on Friday. Sussex Teh went on a 21-6 run in the third
quarter to snap an 11-11 stalemate at intermission. On Tuesday, the Mustangs defeated Lacordaire Academy from Upper
Montclair by a scoe of 43-30 as Jess Gardepe finished with 14 points and her sister Katelyn granned a game-high
19 records. Trailing 30-25 entering the fourth quarter, the Mustangs went on an 18-0 run down the stretch as Amanda
Zweig bombed a pair of three-pointers through the twine to ignite the outburst and finished with 11 points. |
