Sparta cruises to SCIL Festival team title; Kittatinny's Ryba repeats as No. 1 singles champion

Sparta claimed its 13th Sussex County Intersholastic League Feestival girls tennis title and first since 1998 after finishing second twice to Pope John which won back-to-back titles. Kittatinny posted the top finish in the Cougars history, placing second while High Point and the Lions deadlocked for third place. Caitlin Masci led the way for Sparta by winning the third singles championship while the Spartans swept the doubles titles. The top tandem of Jessica Dowd and Rachel Sutton won at first doubles while Diane Shapson and Nicole Smith picked up the first place awards in the No. 2 doubles slot.
Sophomore Jennifer Ryba of Kittatinny successfully defended her No. 1 singles title while Pope John's Brittany Woesner, last year's No. 3 singles champion, moved up to win the second singles crown.
