Dan Colvin is only a freshman but he turned a senior effort, finishing with
a hat trick performance as Vernon skated to a 6-4 victory over Mount Olive at the Skylands Ice World in Hardyston
on February 12. The non-league win upped the independent Vikings' record to 12-5-2.
With 1:29 remaining on the third period clock, Colvin snapped a 2-2 deadlock when he netted his second goal of
the off an assists from Tim Shortman. Colvin iced the verdict with an open net goal with 18 seconds remaining in
the game.
Ryan Karcher opened the scoring 5 minutes, 47 seconds into the game off an assist from John Tully. Shortman made
it 2-0 off assists from the Colvin brothers, Dan and Pat, with 1 minute, 28 seconds left until the first intermission.
Dan Colvin netted his first goal of the game 47 seconds into the middle period and Shortman tallied his second
goal 1 minute, 57 seconds later.

Vernon flattened Lakeland 57-9 in a non-league wrestling match on February 14. Jason Fioravanti (125), Dan Travillion
(140), Nick DiGuillo (215) and Billy Bishop (275) won by pins for the Vikings. |
