DiPaolo completes SCIL career with 109 goals

Tricia DiPaolo completed her scholastic career, scoring a pair of goals as Lenape Valley edged Wallkill Valley 3-2 on Wednesday. The senior striker, who will continue her academic/athletic career at Rutgers University, finished with 109 career goals after scoring the game-winning tally 52 minutes into the game. LVR finished with a 6-11-2 record.
Jessie Lain, who was named the SCIL/Soccer Post of Lafayette Village Player of the Week, scored in the second half off an assist from Bianna Schad but High Point was ousted from the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group III tournament by Lakeland when the Northern Hills Conference squad posted a 3-1 victory on Thursday. Keeper Sasha Scott recorded eight saves.
Mahwah broke a scoreless stalemate with four unanswered goals in the second half to eliminate Newton from the Group II playoffs. Netminder Heather Harold recorded 10 saves as Newton closed out the campaign with a 10-9-1 record.

Lenape Valley blanked Hopatcong 4-0 in a SCIL girls' soccer matcg on Friday as Tricia DiPaolo netted a pair of goals, raising her career total to 102. She was named the SCIL/Soccer Post of Lafayette Village Player of the Week. Sara Juliano chipped in with a goal and assist while Courtney Cooper added a solo goal. Danielle Johnson dished off a pair of assists as LVR improved to 5-11-1.
On Tuesday, Jefferson edged Lenape Valley 3-2 as Danielle Johnson and Jessica Tate scored goals and dished off assists. Kimberly An converted a direct kick with keeper Nicole Silvent stopping 22 shots on goal.
High Point squeaked out a 1-0 triumph over Wallkill Valley when Ashley Sanborn headed the winning goal off a pass from Jesse Lain 39 seconds into the second overtime period. Goalie Sasha Scott made eight saves with defenders Brittany Derin, Amanda Hansen and Audrey Wilson aiding in the shutout effort.
Emily Carroll tallied four goals as Pope John romped to a 7-0 victory over Newton. Gabby Magdalena chipped in with a goal and two assists while Stephanie Barbulesco and Melissa Romero contributed goals. Courtney Flanagan distributed four assists and Romero was credited with one. Keeper Ryan Kelly made four saves.
Sparta's Rachel Molina scored and dished off an assist in a 3-0 blanking of Kittatinny. Danielle D'Avanzo and Mary Kate O'Leary chipped in with solo goals while keeper Virginia Buechel came up with four saves in producing the shutout "W" between the posts.
Keeper Alicia Yaccarino stopped five shots on goal as Vernon blanked Hopatcong 3-0. Jessica Lavooy scored and picked up an assist while Allie Klein and Haley Merrit netted solo goals. Maggie Leggour and Kayla Macerino were credited with assists.

Cougars' Hayes named POW

Meghan Hayes captured the spotlight as Kittatinny opened up a 2-0 lead by intermission and went on to defeat Hopatcong 3-1 in a Sussex County Interscholastic League girls' soccer match. Hayes turned in a hat trick performance, scoring all three goals and was chosen the SCIL/Soccer Post of Lafayette Village Player of the Week. The Cougars improved to 7-3 as Caitlin Hennessey assisted on two of the goals with Julie Godeski picking up an assist. Keeper Mary Kenah stopped five shots on goal.
Emily Carrollo notched a hat trick as Pope John rolled to a 7-0 win over Jefferson. Carrollo scored three times and dished off an assist while Courtney Flanagan added a pair of goals and picked up an assist. Alyssa Lohr and Melissa Romero completed the scoring parade with Stephanie Barbulescu and Gabby Magdaleno credited with assists. Goalie Ryan Kelly was credited with one official save.
Vicky Ziolkowski pitched her seventh shutout, stopping 10 shots on goals as Wallkill Valley edged Vernon 1-0. Kathleen Paiva netted the game-winning tally in the first half as the Lady Rangers upped their record to 8-2-3.
Sasha Scott turned aside 18 shots on goal as High Point squeaked out a 1-0 victory over Sparta to improve to 8-6-1 while the Lady Spartans dropped to 7-7-1. Ashley Sanborn netted the winning goal in the first half off an assist from Jesse Lain.
Newton defeated Lenape Valley 2-1 when Brooke Zander snapped a 1-1 stalemate following the intermission. Zander scored off an assist from Dana Bottoni who had put the Braves on the board in the first half. Laura Moore was credited with an assist on Bottoni's goal while keeper Heather Harold came up with eight saves.

Cooper comes up with 27 saves

Lenape Valley and Sparta battled to a 2-2 stalemate following a pair of scoreless overtime periods in a SCIL girls' soccer match. Tricia DiPaolo netted both Patriots' goals while LVR's keeper Courtney Cooper came up with 27 saves. Cooper, who also recorded 15 saves in a 3-2 loss to Kittatinny in double overtime, was named the SCIL/Soccer Post of Lafayette Village Player of the Week.
Newton and Wallkill Valley battled to 1-1 tie when the Rangers Kathleen Paiva knotted the game on a direct kick one minute into the second half. Dana Bottoni scored in the first half for Newton off an assist from Anna Petersen. Newton's keeper Heather Harold made 14 saves while the Rangers' Vicky Ziolkowski stopped a dozen shots on goal.
Vernon edged Jefferson 1-0 despite another outstanding effort between the posts by keeper Nicole Silvent who stopped 19 of 20 shots on goal. Casey Quinn netted the only goal in the first half off an assist from Amy Buffalino while Viking goalie Alicia Yaccarino made eight saves.
High Point trounced Hopatcong 9-0 as Jessica Lain scored twice and distributed a pair of assists. Katie Baldwin, Kaleigh Drossel, Shannon McEvoy, Ashley Sanborn, Brianna Schadd and Megan Verba added solo goals with Alyssa Lewis dishing off two assists.

Silvent stops 34 of 36 shots on goal for Falcons

Keeper Nicole Silvent turned aside 18 shots on goal as Jefferson edged Newton 1-0 in a Sussex County Interscholastic League girls' soccer match. Silvent, who came up with 16 saves in a 2-0 loss to Sparta earlier in the week, was chosen the SCIL/Soccer Post of Lafayette Village Player of the Week. Meghan Brown netted the only goal of the game in the first half with Kim An picking up an assist.
Sparta defeated Vernon 2-1 on Friday as goelie Virgina Buechel made eight saves. Danielle A'Avanzo scored in the first and Jillian O'Grady tallied the game-winner in the second half as Amanda Hallack and Rachel Molina came up with assists.
Sarah Hildebrand netted the only goal off an assist from Alli Wacker to spur Wallkill Valley to a 1-0 victory over Kittainny as keeper Vicky Ziolkowski madew four saves. The win lifted the Rangers record to 5-2-2.
Tricia DiPaolo and Danielle Johnson scored for Lenape Valley in a 2-1 win over High Point. Tera Pagerie picked up an assist and keeper Courtney Cooper made 22 saves.
Emily Carollo turned in a hat trick effort as Pope John rolled to a 7-0 rout of Kittatinny. Caroline Kura chipped in with two goals and an assist while Courtney Flanagan contributed a goal and assist. Melissa Romero added to the scoring parade with keeper Ryan Kelly made two saves to register her seventh shutout of the campaign.

Quinn's hat trick propels Lady Vikings

Casey Quinn produced a hat trick performance as Vernon toppled Hopatcong 8-1 in a Sussex County Interscholastic League girls' soccer match on Tuesday. Quinn netted three goals and dished off an assist as she was chosen the SCIL/Soccer Post Player of the Week. Jackie McGrath chipped in with a goal and two assists while Leah DiGullio, Allie Klein, Haley Merrit and Tami Vargas added solo goals. Kayla Macerino was credited with two assists while keeper Alicia Yaccarino made four saves.
Kittatinny defeated Jefferson 2-0 on Thursday as keeper Mary Kenah made a pair of saves. Allie Simeone opened the scoring 15 into the game and Megan Hynes added an insurance tally in the second half. Tori Simeone was credited with an assist as the Cougars improved to 3-2-2.
High Point took a 1-0 lead in the first half when Ashley Sanborn scored off an assist from Brianna Schadd. Goalie Sasha Scott stopped nine shots to record the shutout as the Wildcats upped their record to 4-3-1 with the victory over Vernon on Thursday.
Amanda Hallack, Mary Claire McCormack and Rachel Molina scored for Sparta in a 3-1 triumph over Jefferson. Danielle D'Avanzo, Jen Keenan and Jillian O'Grady were credited with assists while keeper Virginia Buechel made eight saves.
Ryan Kelly recorded her sixth shutout of the season, stopping five shots on goal, as Pope John blanked Wallkill Valley 5-0. Courtney Flanagan fueled the attack, scoring twice and dishing off an assist while Steohanie Barbulescu, Emily Carrollo and Alex Cumella added solo goals.

Wallkill Valley squeaked out a 1-0 triumph over Vernon in a Sussex County Interscholastic League girls' soccer match on Friday afternoon. Keeper Vicky Ziolkowski was perfect between the pipes for the Lady Rangers, turning aside 11 shots on a goal and was named the SCIL/Soccer Post Player of the Week. Sarah Hildebrand tallied the only goal in the second half off an assist from Kathleen Paiva.
Heather Harold came up with nine saves as Newton blanked Lenape Valley 1-0. Brittany overland netted the only goal of the game in the second half off an assist from Megda Recalder as the Braves upped their overall record to 4-1.
Sparta defeated High Point 2-1 after opening up a 1-0 lead by the halftime break on a goal by Danielle D'Avanzo. Danielle Jacobs netted the game-winning tally in the second half while Ashley Sanborn scored for the Wildcats with Jesse Lain picking up an assist.
Pope John exploded with six goals in the opening half in trouncing Jefferson 7-0. Emily Carrollo netted four goals and dished off an assist while Alex Cumella chipped in with a pair of goals and an assist. Stephanie Barbulescu added a goal and Melissa Romero was credited with an assist while Ryan Kelly and Julie Dudley combined on three saves to share credit for the shutout "W" between the posts.

Kenah stops 21 shots on goal

Kittatinny's Mary Kenah was perfect between the posts as Kittatinny blanked Vernon 2-0 in a girls' soccer match. Kenah stopped 21 shots on goal and was named the SCIL/Soccer Post Player of the Week. Megan Hayes and Samantha Place scored and assisted on each others goals to provide th firepower as Kittatinny improved to 1-0-1.
Pope John scored once in each half to record a 2-1 victory over High Point as goalie Ryan Kelly recorded eight saves. Alex Cumella and Melissa Romero scored for PJ with Astin Altendurg and Courtney Flanagan picking up assists. Shannon McEvoy scored for High Point off an assist Jesse Lain.
Ally Wacker netted the game-winning tally with five ticks remaining on the game clock as Wallkill Valley pulled out a 2-1 win over Jefferson. Lauren Backman had put the Rangers into a 1-0 lead by intertmission and goalie Vicky Ziolkowski excelled between the pipes, coming up with eight saves. Alyssa Mayer and Kathlene Paiva picked up assists for the Rangers.
Two days later, Jefferson edged Vernon 1-0 when frosh Kimberly An tickled the Vikings' cage on a penalty kick with less than four minutes remaining on the first half game clock. Keeper Nicole Silvent came up with 11 saves in preserving the shutout as the Falcons recorded their first "W" of the campaign in three tries.
Sparta defeated Lenape Valley 4-1 as Danielle D'Avanzo scored twice. Mary Kate O'Leary and Rachel Molina tallied solo goals with assists credited to Melissa Epstein and Jillian O'Grady.

Carrollo named SCIL girls' soccer player of the week

Emily Carrollo opened her sophomore season with an blast of four goals to spur Pope John to a 7-0 rout of Hopatcong in a Sussex County Interscholastic League girls' soccer match played Saturday in Hopatcong. Carrollo, who also dished off an assist, was voted the SCILPlayer of the Week. Lions' goalkeeper Ryan Kelly recorded the shutout "W" between the pipes by stopping six official shots on goal.
Shannon McEvoy played a key role in High Point's 6-1 triumph over Lenape Valley. She scored a goal but also marked the Patriots' standout Tricia DePaolo and held her scoreless. Jesse Lain powered the Wildcats attack with a hat trick, netting three goals while Ashley Sanborn chipped in with a goal and two assists. Alyssa Lewis added a goal and assist.
Pope John rolled to a 4-0 shutout victory over Hopatcong as goalie Chris Schwork came up with 10 saves. Connor Phalon powered the attack with a hat trick effort that included three goals and an assist. Josh Steel added a solo goal.
Casey Quinn produced a hat trick effort, scoring three times, as Vernon outscored Sparta 7-5. Elise Fugowski added two tallies with Jessica Lavooy and Colette Lortz adding solo goals. Mary Claire McCormick sparked the Lady Spartans with a hat trick performance while Danielle D'Avanzo and Danielle Jacobs produced goals and dished off two assists apiece for Sparta.
Keeper Heather Harold excelled between the pipes, stopping 21 shots on goal as Newton blanked Jefferson 2-0. Dana Bottoni and Magdalena Recalde snapped a scoreless stalemate with solo goals in the second half for the Braves.
